The Dunning Gallery at Northampton Community College Pocono Campus is pleased to present Enduring Presence 2025: Art of the Fourth Crow, an exhibition of contemporary and historic art and functional objects from the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania. This exhibition is curated by Adam DePaul and features work by Stony Acevedo, Jim Beer, Tammy Botkin, Paper Buck, Rosemary Bushy, Sacred Canvas, Evan Cohen, Nonie Cruzado, Adam Waterbear DePaul, Shelley Windamakwi DePaul, Isaac Green Diebboll, Ed Eckstein, Valara Hartman, Linda M. Heberling, Rachel E. Heberling, Teri Many Flowers Spirit Woman Hislop, Lisa Kelley, Eric Labacz, Cory Macaulay, Sarah Mejia, Abigail Michelini, Coco Peila, Danny Reese, Robert Red Hawk Ruth, Jane Simon, Marc Strong, Cleng Sumagaysay, Amanda Thackray, Dara Youngas well as collective and anonymous artists.
Many in the Lenape nation believe that we are now living in the Time of the Fourth Crow—a time where the homeland Lenape will emerge from their forced hiding, declare their continued presence in the Lenapehokink, and forge a new Harmony with all of our new neighbors in this land. It is a time of friendship, collaboration, healing, and community both within the Lenape and among all two-leggeds in our homeland and beyond.
This third iteration of the exhibition currently on-view at Dunning Gallery was initially installed at Temple University, then at Haverford College and at Arcadia University. In the spirit of the Fourth Crow, this installation expands upon the core exhibition, which featured primarily traditional mediums. The exhibition at Dunning also showcases contemporary art from both Lenape artists working with modern mediums and non- Lenape artists who have created work to acknowledge and support Lenape homeland people and culture.
The artworks on-view reflect diversity in both cultural and artistic background, and variety in media including photography, typesetting, papermaking, poetry, graphic design, banners, film, a graphic novel, an 8′ x 24′ mural, and even a windmill (which, of course, will be represented, but not present, at the exhibit).
The exhibition will coincide with the Lenape Conference also taking place at the Pocono campus and will feature a ceremony and performance preceding the reception.
