Liz is an artist based in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. She has been working with ceramics since 1995, and has maintained a studio and exhibition practice since then. Her ceramic sculptures explore themes of memory and language by depicting miniature environments, objects, words, and images. She studied ceramics at Bennington College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and spent three summers at the Ox-Bow Summer School of Art in Michigan. She also studied philosophy with a concentration in art theory at Binghamton University, earning a Master’s degree in the Philosophy, Interpretation and Culture department.
She has lived in Bethlehem since 2004, having moved there with her husband and newborn daughter; she went on to homeschool her as well as her younger sister from 2014-18 while working part-time. She is and instructor at, as well as the managing director of, Clay on Main, a not-for-profit community arts center in Oley, PA.
